May Goals

Saturday 6 May 2017

Hi guys! In light of my last post where I talked about my general exhaustion and lack of motivation over the last month, I thought it was time I kicked things up a notch and set myself some fresh new goals!

Exercise in the mornings.
I'm such a morning person, I'm always way too worn out by the time I get home in the afternoon to find the motivation to go exercise! I really struggled in my last rotation as I had lots of 7.30/8am starts which meant I didn't have time to do any exercise in the mornings, so I wasn't finding the time to do as much exercise as I would have liked. Happily for the next 6 weeks most of my mornings don't start until 9 or 10am, so I'm really looking forward to getting lots of morning workouts in!

Start a 10km training plan.
As I've just mentioned, my exercise schedule lately hasn't been the best! At my best level of fitness about 2 years ago I was able to run 8km, so I'd like to get back to that level again and hopefully even better it! I feel like 10km is a really solid distance to be able to run, so working up to that achievement will be great.

Eat a lot more fresh and healthy meals.
My diet goes hand in hand with my exercise, so when I'm too busy and stressed to exercise my healthy eating usually goes out the window as well! I've definitely been slipping a bit with this lately, so I'm aiming to start meal prepping a bit on the weekends and making sure I always have plenty of fruits and veges available to nourish my body and brain. I'm hoping this will leave me feeling a lot more comfortable in myself and give me some more energy to tackle my days with!

Catch up with friends more.
I spend so much of my life on placement or studying that I sometimes forget to catch up with friends. I often find it difficult to balance catching up with everyone as well as spending time with my boyfriend-with us studying the same course and doing similar things it can be too easy to spend too much time together and not catch up with anyone else! I'm definitely going to make an effort to fix this in the next few weeks, and already have a couple of things planned!

Read at least 3 books.
This is one I've already achieved actually! During my week break I went back to one of my old favourite series, The Immortals Quartet by Tamora Pierce. They're fairly short books so I've finished all 4 very quickly. Any suggestions for what I should read next?

Life is all about balance, so I'm really aiming to improve in several aspects of my life that will have me feeling a lot more content and balanced overall!

Are there any goals that you guys are working on? How do you keep things balanced in your life?

  2. That part about catching up with friends! I need that in my life lol. I feel like I get so overwhelmed in my own world trying to do me that I forget I have a social group. I love reading monthly goals like this cause it reminds me that life is more than school and exams :)

  3. I'm not a morning person but I love exercising in the morning, it's like if I don't workout as soon as I wake up I'm just not going to do it at all! Plus it feels great to workout in the morning because you feel like you've already accomplished something right off the bat.
