Hi guys!
Hasn't May just flown by? This month has definitely been my busiest so far this year, I've only had one weekend semi-free in the last four weeks. Between several weekend surgery shifts and two camping trips away, I have to admit I'm feeling pretty exhausted! I am pretty pleased that I've been getting out and about so much though, and I'm definitely looking forward to a weekend completely off coming up soon. Here's a little look at my May highlights.
Camping Trip
What to do when you have a big assignment due next week? Run away from it all and go camping! Granted this probably wasn't the best idea for my stress levels, but it was worth it to go adventuring with some awesome friends! We managed to visit beaches, waterfalls and get a whole lot of four wheel driving in and we had so much fun! My friend made an awesome video of the trip which you can check out here if you like.
Pub Crawl
A couple of weekends ago we went on a pub crawl organised by some of the older med students. The theme was to dress as something starting with the first letter of your name...I was supposed to be Kim Kardashian but not that many people could work it out, haha! It was a fun night of socialising anyway, and I had the best frozen margarita slushie of my life!
Sailing
It's not something I talk about much as I don't get to do it very often these days, but back in the day I was a super keen sailor! A couple of weeks ago my sailing club had a big regatta and 50th anniversary dinner, so I thought it was about time I introduced my partner to my long-lost hobby! We camped overnight at the club and got to hang out with all my old friends. The sailing club was like my second home while I was in high school, and so many of the people there have seen me grow up from a little 11 year old until now, so it really feels like family being back there! I'm really keen to get back into sailing when I get the chance, maybe next year when I don't have huge exams looming over me.
Happy Plans!
In other exciting news, this month I got a couple of pieces of really good news in relation to my placement preferences for next year. We got an email confirming that we've been accepted to do placement in a hospital in my partner's home town in India next year, which is super exciting! I also got offered a 20 week rotation to Thursday Island, which I am absolutely thrilled about. I've been there before on one of my earlier rural placements and really loved it, and I've always wanted to go back and work there one day when I qualify, so it feels really full circle that I will be finishing my degree up there! It looks like I won't be spending much time at home next year, but it will be such a good reward after getting through this tough final year of exams
So that's how my very busy month of May went! What did you get up to? Did you go anywhere new or make any exciting plans?
