5 Ways to Read More Books When You're Busy AF

Tuesday 29 May 2018

Hi guys!
I'll be the first to admit that as good as your intentions are, reading books regularly is so hard to fit in when the rest of your life is crazy busy! When I'm stressed and have a to-do list as long as my arm, managing to read a book is generally right at the bottom of my list.

However, I think the benefits of reading regularly are so wonderful, and it's a really important thing to find time for. Even while studying Med full time, I managed to finish 52 books last year, so I thought I'd share my best tips for finishing more books when you're hella busy.

1. Carry a book everywhere. No matter what you do, you'll always come up with some unexpected free moments in the day which can be put to good use! I find my Kindle super useful for this as it is so light and small, it fits easily even in my tiny handbag and comes around everywhere with me! For that reason, I'm often reading at least two books at once; one physical book at home and then one on my kindle that keeps me occupied in everyday life.

2. Listen to audiobooks while you're doing mindless things like walking, driving or cleaning. It not only gets some book time in as well as making your chores or drive go faster! In terms of finding audiobooks, I've found that Audible is good but way too expensive for my budget; I've actually found a lot on youtube that you can listen to for free!

3. Don't force yourself to read things that you aren't finding interesting. There's just no point slogging through something that you're not enjoying. Even if it means picking up a trashy romance novel or an old favourite, read what you want to read, not what you think you should be reading!

4. Set a goal and keep track of what you're reading! Goodreads is by far the easiest way I've found to do this. Nothing motivates me like being able to check off another book and keep up with my target for the year, it's just so satisfying!

5. Set aside some time to read. It doesn't have to be everyday, although it does help to get in the habit of it. I like to stay in bed and read on a Saturday morning, I find it super relaxing and a really nice way to start my weekend!

So that's my five best tips for managing to fit in more reading. Do you have any tips that you think I missed? I'd love to hear what you're reading lately in the comments!
Happy Reading!
