Much to my surprise and delight, last weekend I woke up to a tweet from the wonderful Sara (AboutLittleThiings) saying she had nominated me for the Liebster Award! If you haven't heard of this award before (like me!), these are the basic rules...
- Mention the person who nominated you
- Answer the eleven questions this person gave you
- Come up with eleven new questions yourself
- Nominate eleven bloggers
- Let them know about the nomination
I love this idea of getting to know new blogs and the people behind them! I hope you guys enjoy my answers as much as I enjoyed writing them!
1. When and why did you start your blog? My blog is still a little baby really! I wrote my first post in June last year, but have only really started to find my place and begin posting regularly in the last month or two. To be quite honest, I've never really thought about why I started this blog-I somehow just did, and unlike my usual projects of this type, I'm still loving it and keeping it up! I find blogging to be a really good way to share my passions and interests and to feel like i'm not so alone-I don't seem to have many friends in real life that would be willing to base a whole conversation on a particular mascara, but there's lots of people here who will share my excitement!
2. Where's your happy place? I was born in New Zealand, and although I've lived in Australia for almost ten years now, I still feel like New Zealand is my home and the place where my heart is happiest! In particular, the Tongariro National Park in the North Island is the place where my soul always feel so light and free. I love the mountains and being out with nature, so this place is where I always find myself to be just ridiculously, deliriously happy!
3. What's your favourite thing about Spring? Considering we're just coming into Autumn here in Australia, Spring seems an awful long way away! We also don't have much variation in the seasons here so I can really only speak from stereotypes rather than my own experiences of Spring! However, I find my mood to be so much lower whenever the weather is dark and gloomy, so I can imagine that the return of sunshine in spring would be by far my favourite aspect of it!
4. Do you like the country you live in? What do you like about it? This question is a bit of a funny one for me, as I have somewhat of a love/hate relationship with Australia! On the one hand, it has given my family so many opportunities and we have built a great life here, and it's generally a very safe and well-off country to be living in. However, I've also always felt Australia (on a whole, not every person I've met!) to be quite a racist country and have never quite felt fully accepted here, despite the fact that I'm now a citizen. So yes, I really appreciate the country I live in, but I think I'll always be a New Zealander at heart!
5. What's the one thing you absolutely want to achieve in your life? Basically my biggest dream in life is just to be happy. There's many elements that make up how I imagine myself getting there-travel, a stable relationship, being a well-trusted and competent doctor...the list could go on forever, but I know it's not all these big things but a combination of all the littler ones that will lead to happiness!
6. What inspires you? Would it be weird to say that I inspire myself? Most of the time I struggle feeling like I'll never be good enough to be a good doctor, but every now and then when I'm talking to patients or practising skills I suddenly see a glimpse of the doctor I could be in the future, and I just find that the most inspiring thing ever!
7. Who would you like to see in concert? I've actually never been to a concert! My all time favourite singer is Hunter Hayes, so I'd LOVE to go to one of his concerts-but no one everrr comes to Australia!
8. What's your favourite piece of clothing you own? I recently bought a huge, comfy burgundy coloured cardigan (there's a picture of it in this post) and it's just my favourite thing ever at the moment-it's just so comfy!
9. What's the one thing you love to do most? Oooh this is actually such a tough one! I love reading, blogging, and watching Disney movies...but I'd have to say my one thing I love to do most is travelling! I've been brought up in a family that travels a lot and my continual wanderlust is a very real problem!
10. How would you describe your blog in three words? Positive, honest, little
11. What's your favourite quote? My current favourite quote is 'adventure may hurt, but monotony will kill you'. That quote really resounded with me when I first read it for some reason!

1.What's the one place you really want to travel to?
2. What's your favourite book you've ever read?

4. Do people ever mistake you for being younger or older than you actually are?
5. What's your biggest pet peeve?
6. What's your go-to outfit at the moment?
7. Share with us a blogger you've recently discoved and are really liking?

Thank you so much for the nomination girl! I love learning a little bit more about some of my favorite bloggers, and this is such as fun way to do it! I particularly enjoyed hearing about your life in Australia and New Zealand, and about your love for travel and nature!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally know what you mean about inspiring yourself! I can feel so small and far away from my dreams, until I see myself taking baby steps towards them, and then I can't wait to keep going in the right direction! Be looking for my post soon!

DeleteOh I totally know how you feel about feeling so small and so far away from your dreams (I could almost have written those words myself haha!) but we'll get there one day! Just gotta keep taking steps in the right direction! xx
Sweet! Thanks for the nomination!
ReplyDeleteI'll be visiting New Zealand start of next year! I'm so excited! Being and Aussie myself its sad to say there are a few racists in this country ruining the rest of our names! SO it sucks that you sometimes don't feel accepted here :(
It;s super cool that you inspire yourself! Go for it be an awesome doctor! *sends positive vibes*
Agreed on hating that NO ONE comes to Australia so it's super hard to meet your favourite people!
Will write up my answers soon! x
